MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA (December 9, 2020) – On Tuesday, a driver sustained injuries in a semi-trailer crash on Highway 101.
 
According to CHP, the semi-trailer that crashed and overturned carried 77,000 pounds of soil. Thus, the soil was scattered on both south and northbound lanes.
 
Moreover, responders said that the driver only sustained minor injuries in the crash.
 
A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol said that the cleanup might go quicker if the soil is considered not to be a hazardous waste. If not, the road might be blocked for a while.
 
Authorities from Caltrans managed to push the semi out of the roadway. Then, the authorities implemented one-way traffic, said Caltrans spokesperson Myles Cochrane.
 
All roads were reopened after the cleanup.
