1 Person Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash on 10 Freeway in El Monte

El Monte (May 22, 2025) – A three-car, wrong-way crash on 10 Freeway early Thursday left at least one person trapped inside a vehicle. 

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene at 3:06 a.m. at the eastbound lanes near the Baldwin Avenue off-ramp.

According to a CHP spokesperson speaking to City News Service, a black Honda sedan was traveling the wrong way on the freeway when it collided with a white vehicle, triggering a multi-vehicle crash. 

Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters rescued the Honda driver, who had become trapped inside the vehicle. 

Emergency crews transported him to a hospital, though his condition remains unknown.

While officers investigated the cause of the collision, the CHP shut down the eastbound freeway’s Baldwin Avenue off-ramp.
