Moreno Valley Big Rig Collision on 215 Freeway Injures Truck Driver
MORENO VALLEY, CA (August 08, 2019) — A truck driver suffered moderate injuries in a big rig collision on 215 Freeway Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred near Harley Knox Boulevard. The CHP, Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters, and other emergency personnel responded shortly before 6:00 a.m.
Involved were a Bud Light tractor-trailer combo transporting water products and a passenger vehicle which fled the scene after the crash. The passenger vehicle is now being sought by CHP for hit-and-run.
The truck was southbound on the 215 Freeway near Harley Knox Boulevard when it collided with the passenger vehicle. After the two vehicles collided, the truck veered off the freeway. It crashed through a fence adjacent to southbound 215 Freeway and subsequently overturned onto a set of Metrolink train tracks.
First responders had to perform an extensive cut-and-rescue operation to free the driver trapped inside the big rig. A ground ambulance took the truck driver to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
Further investigation of the incident is underway.
