Driver Garret Brumley Killed in Interstate 70 Head-On Crash [Jackson County, MO]

Jackson County, MO (July 15, 2024) – A Chevrolet driver, 56-year-old Garret Brumley, was fatally injured in an Interstate 70 head-on crash Sunday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol officers responded at 8:30 p.m. to the westbound freeway near Grain Valley.

Investigators said a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by 20-year-old Connor Souther was eastbound on the freeway when it ran off the left side of the road and crossed the median through westbound lanes. 

The Hyundai struck a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Garret Brumley head on. 

Garret Brumley and Connor Souther were both declared deceased at the scene.

Five passengers in the Chevrolet sustained minor to serious injuries.

Officers are investigating.
