Driver Dead in 15 Freeway Crash Near Highway 138 [Cajon Pass, CA]

Fatal Crash With Semi-Truck in Cajon Pass

 
CAJON PASS, CA (May 31, 2019) – One person died Thursday night following a collision with a semi-truck on the 15 Freeway near Highway 138.
 
The 7:53 p.m. accident took place between Highway 138 and Oak Hill Road.
 
It appears a driver of a white Ford F-150 crashed into the center divider before plowing into the rear of a turquoise-colored semi-truck.
 
Shortly after, the San Bernardino County Fire and California Highway Patrol responded. Crews arrived to find a single occupant of the Ford pinned inside the wreckage.
 
Just before 8:30 p.m., firefighters freed the victim but despite life-saving efforts, the driver died shortly after.
 
Meanwhile, the semi-truck operator sought treatment at Desert Valley Hospital for minor injuries.
 
It is unclear at this point what caused the pickup truck to hit the center divider, but an ongoing investigation is underway.
