Driver Arrested after Fiery Crash on Highway 180 and Peach Avenue [Fresno, CA]

1 Injured in Fresno Auto Accident on Highway 180 and Peach Avenue

 
FRESNO, CA (July 6, 2021) – Sunday, authorities arrested a driver after a fiery crash on Highway 180 and Peach Avenue.
 
The incident occurred after midnight on Highway 180 on-ramp and Peach Avenue.
 
According to the Fresno police, a vehicle attempted to get onto Highway 180. At the same time, a Chevy Tahoe traveled south on Peach Avenue.
 
Then, the vehicles crashed and caused the Tahoe to catch fire.
 
According to an off-duty officer, the Tahoe driver threw fireworks and a pipe bomb out of the vehicle.
 
Fresno’s Bomb Disposal Unit responded to the scene to take away the object from the road.
 
“It is believed that there were several other items inside the vehicle at the time of the traffic collision. As that vehicle was fully engulfed, we heard further explosions that would indicate that there are possible other improvised explosive devices inside of that vehicle,” revealed Fresno Police Lt. Paul Cervantes.
 
The police confirmed that a juvenile passenger rode in the SUV during the collision.
 
Meanwhile, the police took the Tahoe driver into custody while facing several felony charges.
 
Responders took the second vehicle’s driver to Community Regional Medical Center. At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed their condition.
