Injuries Reported in North County Accident on Centre City Parkway and West El Norte Parkway
NORTH COUNTY, CA (January 26, 2023) – Tuesday night, authorities arrested a driver after a pursuit crash on Centre City Parkway and West El Norte Parkway,
The incident began at about 8:15 p.m. when authorities tried to pull over a stolen Honda Civic. The initial incident happened near state Route 78 and Twin Oaks Valley Road in San Marcos.
However, the driver failed to stop which led to the pursuit, sheriff’s Lieutenant Aaron Meleen revealed.
Eventually, the pursuit stopped when the driver crashed and T-boned a vehicle near the intersection of Centre City Parkway and West El Norte Parkway.
Then, the victim’s vehicle crashed into an Escondido police vehicle and a deputy’s vehicle, Escondido police Lt. Craig Miller revealed.
Also, authorities arrested the suspect on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, evading police, driving under the influence, and possession of a controlled substance.
Moreover, authorities arrested the 53-year-old man on a felony arrest warrant, Meleen added.
Reports confirmed that responders took the suspect to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Meanwhile, the other driver sustained minor injuries and required hospitalization.
Also, the Escondido police officer whose vehicle was struck complained of back pain. However, he refused medical treatment, Miller revealed.
Officers noted that the damage to both law enforcement vehicles was moderate, and neither was operable.
