Solo-Vehicle Crash Injures Driver in Cuyama Valley

 
CUYAMA, CA (July 08, 2019) – A driver suffered serious injuries in a pickup truck accident on Highway 166 Wednesday night.
 
Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Mike Eliason said the incident occurred in the westbound lanes near Kirschenmann Road. The truck crashed into a tree at about 6:07 p.m. As a result, the driver got ejected from the vehicle. It also ripped the cab of the truck away from the chassis and the engine.
 
Santa Barbara County Fire Department paramedics treated the driver at the scene. They subsequently took him to Cuyama Airport where a CalSTAR helicopter was waiting to transfer him to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
 
Officials did not immediately release the identity of the injured driver. In the meantime, the investigation of the crash is ongoing.
