DPS Trooper Injured in Crash on State Route 85 near Interstate 10 [Buckeye, AZ]

BUCKEYE, AZ (November 17, 2020) – On Monday, a crash on State Route 85 near Interstate 10 injured a DPS trooper in Buckeye, Arizona.
 
According to the Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m.
 
While assisting with traffic control in the northbound SR 85 into the right late, a blue Ford F-150 driver attempted to pass traffic on the left and crashed into a DPS patrol vehicle with a trooper inside. The DPS patrol vehicle was within the median and its emergency lights were on, said DPS. A right arrow was also activated to show the drivers the traffic flow.
 
Responders rushed both the driver and the trooper to a hospital after suffering serious injuries.
 
Officers are looking into if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
 
All northbound traffic was diverted to Broadway Road. Southbound lane traffic was uninterrupted.
 
The incident is under investigation.
