Fatal Solo-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Coos County

 
Coos County, WA (October 8, 2020) – Wednesday afternoon, the passenger Douglas Hansen died, and the driver Andrew Martin sustained severe injuries after a solo vehicle crash on Highway 101 near milepost 258.
 
The fatal crash was reported at around 3:12 p.m. on October 7. Dispatched officers responded and located a Toyota SR-5 pickup truck on the scene.
 
Investigators say a Toyota SR-5 pickup truck was southbound when it went off the roadway and struck a tree.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the 55-year-old Hansen, from Coos Bay, dead at the scene. The driver, identified as Martin, 35, also from Coos Bay, was taken to Bay Area Hospital with serious injuries.
 
Further investigation to determine the cause of the crash is ongoing.
