5 People Hospitalized in Placer County Auto Accident on Interstate 80 near Ophir Road

PLACER COUNTY, CA (September 19, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a disastrous rollover crash on Interstate 80 near Ophir Road injured two people.

The incident happened on westbound Interstate 80 near Ophir Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a westbound Ford Expedition struck the center divider for still unknown reasons and rolled over.

As a result, responders transported the Ford driver who is a 30-year-old woman with major injuries, and her 39-year-old passenger with a fractured leg, to a hospital for treatment. Then, responders transported three children, ages 9, 8, and 2, to a hospital as a precaution.

Furthermore, the crash blocked all lanes of Interstate 80, but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
