Dirt Bike Rider Perishes in Collision With Truck in Reno
RENO, NV (May 8, 2019) – A dirt bike rider died Monday night following a crash with a pickup truck on North Virginia Street near North McCarran Boulevard.
According to police, the rider of a stolen dirt bike was traveling south on Virginia Street, just north of North McCarran Boulevard. Police noted that the dirt bike did not have a headlight.
Around 8:30 p.m., a northbound pickup truck attempted a left turn into a sports complex. During this maneuver, the pickup truck and dirt biker collided, ejecting the rider from the bike.
Shortly after, a second motorcyclist struck the first one, causing minor injuries to its occupant.
Unfortunately, the dirt biker succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The person’s name has yet to be identified by authorities, who stayed after to question the pickup truck driver.
At this time, it’s uncertain where the fault lies and other factors that may have contributed to the accident. However, officials plan to dive in and investigate.
