33-Year-Old DUI Driver Involved in Traffic Crash near Frank Sinatra Drive
PALM DESERT, CA (September 30, 2018) – A man was arrested early Sunday morning following a DUI crash on Monterey Avenue.
According to the Palm Desert Police Department, the incident took place at about 2:30 AM near Frank Sinatra Drive. A white BMW, driven by 33-year-old Dilip Samaranayake of Cathedral City, was traveling at a high speed on Monterey Avenue when it collided with a Red Chevrolet pickup truck. The impact of the crash caused the pickup to spin and lose control.
Samaranayake initially did not stop after the collision. However, his vehicle became inoperative as a result of the damages sustained in the wreck. He was later arrested and booked at the county jail in Indio after it was determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. No injuries were reported by the authorities.
