Kevin Jones Arrested in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway in Pacoima

 
PACOIMA, CA (July 7, 2019) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian crash early Sunday morning on 5 Freeway in Pacoima.
 
The victim’s identity has been released by the coroner’s office as Diana Johnson, 31, of Los Angeles.
 
Officers responded around 4:25 a.m., to the scene near the Osborne Street exit on the northbound freeway. There, they located Johnson down in the third lane with fatal injuries.
 
A witness driving on that side of the freeway saw a vehicle strike the pedestrian, the CHP said. Two male Samaritans stopped their vehicles on the right shoulder to assist the injured victim.
 
While standing on the right shoulder, the two men were struck by an unknown motor vehicle that fled the scene. Paramedics took the men to a nearby hospital for further treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
The driver who struck the pedestrian, 39-year-old Kevin Deshaun Jones of Los Angeles, remained on scene.
 
Officers arrested Jones on suspicion of murder while the hit-and-run driver remains at large. The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
