RIVERSIDE, CA (April 17, 2025) – Wednesday night, a person died in a devastating multi-vehicle crash on Market Street near 5th Street.

Reports said that the incident happened at 6:15 p.m. on Market Street between 5th Street and Mission Inn Avenue.

Investigators said the suspect driver crashed into multiple occupied vehicles before allegedly trying to run from the scene.

When emergency crews arrived, one person was found dead. Six others were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

The driver was later detained, though their name has not been released. The victim who died has also not been identified.

Roads in the area were shut down as police investigated and cleared the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
