1 Dead in St Louis County Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 270 and Interstate 55

ST LOUIS COUNTY, MO (February 6, 2025) – Early Wednesday, a man died in a devastating auto accident on Interstate 270 and Interstate 55.

The incident occurred just after midnight at the ramp from southbound Interstate 270 to Interstate 55, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol. 

A 2017 Volkswagen Passat was traveling southbound when a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, heading northbound in the wrong direction, collided with it head-on.

The wrong-way driver, a 31-year-old man from Austin, Texas, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to MSHP. A passenger in his vehicle, a 34-year-old man from Houston, Texas, and the other driver, a 19-year-old from St. Louis, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

All lanes of the ramp from I-270 to I-55 were closed for hours as emergency crews responded to the crash. The ramp reopened around 5:30 a.m.
