KINGS COUNTY, CA (May 2, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, a devastating 2-vehicle crash on Avenal Cutoff Road and Laurel Avenue killed 2 people.

The incident happened at about 3:00 p.m. in the area of Avenal Cutoff Road, north of Laurel Avenue.

Investigators revealed that a 42-year-old man drove a Chrysler north on Avenal Cutoff Road, north of Laurel Avenue. Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man drove a Toyota south on Avenal Cutoff Road, north of Laurel Avenue.

As the vehicles merged, the 42-year-old man let his Chrysler veer into the southbound tragic lane. Then, he went into the path of the Toyota.

As a result, the 42-year-old and the 37-year-old man both succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, responders took a 48-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy to a local hospital.
