1 Dead in Modesto Auto Accident on Amador Avenue and Crows Landing Road

MODESTO, CA (August 31, 2023) – Monday night, a homeless man died after a devastating 2-vehicle crash on Amador Avenue and Crows Landing Road.

The crash between two vehicles happened just before 7:00 p.m. at the T-shaped intersection of Amador Avenue and Crows Landing Road.

According to reports, the driver of a 2013 Nissan Altima pulled out of a parking lot. However, as they crossed Crows Landing to get onto Amador, she broadsided the Camry.

The impact sent the Camry to spin and hit a man sitting on the sidewalk.

The male succumbed to his injuries on scene,” the MPD post revealed. “Involved parties remained on scene and were cooperative with Officers. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this incident.”

However, the identity of the alleged homeless victim remained undisclosed due to pending family notifications.

Meanwhile, officers confirmed that the Camry and Altima drivers are both women who live in Modesto. Both of them only complained of pain.

Modesto has consistently found itself among the lowest-ranking cities for traffic crashes compared to its counterparts across the state. In 2020, it held the unfortunate position of being the second-worst city out of 67, according to the most recent rankings provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety. Notably, Modesto was also ranked fifth-worst for crashes involving pedestrians, resulting in 96 injuries or fatalities.
