Brianna L Callahan, Justin D Crasper, and Melissa F Wood Hospitalized after Crash near E Arellem Road
UNION, WA (March 10, 2018) – Three people were injured in a car crash that happened after a police chase on East McReavy Road, on Saturday night around 10:20 PM.
According to reports, a 2007 Pontiac Vibe was traveling northbound on E McReavy Rd, approaching E Arellem Rd, with a deputy in a fully marked Mason County Sheriff’s Office patrol car (a 2014 Ford Explorer) right behind it.
The deputy, 41-year-old Melissa F Wood of Shelton, attempted to stop the Pontiac. The vehicle then tried to drive off at high speeds and lost control. The car left the roadway, traveling over the southbound lane and shoulder, and went up an embankment where it rolled several times before coming to a stop in the roadway.
Wood’s vehicle sideswiped the Pontiac and continued northbound, until returning to the scene for evaluation. Two people were inside the car at the time of the accident; the driver, 21-year-old Brianna L Callahan of Belfair, and 32-year-old Justin D Crasper of Port Orchard sitting passenger. Both occupants were seriously injured and airlifted to the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Wood was also injured in the crash, and was taken to the Mason General Hospital, where she was treated and released.
McReavy Road was closed between East Dalby Road and East Manzanita Drive for over eight hours during investigation and cleanup.The Washington State Patrol continue to investigate the accident.
When being pulled over by a law enforcement officer, do not flee from the scene. Abide by the laws of the road, and pull over accordingly. Not only is it illegal to drive away at high speeds, but it can also result in serious injuries.
