Deputies Injured in Cameron Park Vehicle Crash on Knollwood Drive near Greenwood Lane

CAMERON PARK, CA (December 15, 2023) – Wednesday night, a startling auto accident on Knollwood Drive near Greenwood Lane led to the arrest of Deondre Kamela Bottoms

Reports revealed that El Dorado County deputies arrested a man who struck a deputy with his truck and dragged another vehicle while fleeing.

Thus, deputies came to the 2200 block of Knollwood Drive near Greenwood Lane around 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon their arrival, they located the vehicle, a white Nissan pickup truck, and a driver inside.

Officers identified the driver as Bottoms who had an active warrant out for his arrest.

The sheriff’s office revealed that the suspect accelerated his vehicle, dragged one deputy, and struck another before fleeing the scene, hitting other nearby vehicles as well.

Meanwhile, responders transported both deputies to the hospital but have since been released.

Then, at about 12:45 a.m., the deputies detained Bottoms in Citrus Heights.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
