2 Killed in Pedestrian Collision at Road 406, Ricky Holt Arrested
MADERA COUNTY, CA (September 16, 2018) – A man and woman were killed late Sunday night when they were struck by a pickup truck on Road 400. The two deceased victims were later identified as Dean Cram and Lucille Trolinger.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 9:00 PM at Road 406, between Raymond and Madera. 39-year-old Ricky Holt of Madera was driving a 2001 Dodge northbound on 400 when Dean Cram and Lucille Trolinger started arguing.
Holt stopped the car in the northbound lane, so that Cram and Trolinger could get out of the the vehicle. As they stepped out, they continued to argue. Holt attempted to intervene and Cram punched Holt in the eye. Holt then punched Cram, knocking him to the ground in the southbound lane of Rd 400. Trolinger jumped on Cram to try to end the fight.
At the same time, 68-year-old Joi Phatdouang of Fresno was driving southbound on Rd 400 in a Toyota pickup truck. He did not see the people fighting in the roadway because of the glare of the Dodge’s headlights, and crashed into Cram and Trolinger, as the incesitgation continues.
Both suffered life-threatening injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders. Holt was arrested on charges of driving under the influence in connection with the incident. No further details have been disclosed to the public at this time.
