One Killed in Fatal Crash Involving Semi and Sedan on Highway 183
Monterey County, CA (May 20, 2025) On Monday afternoon, a person tragically lost their life after a traffic collision on Highway 183.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the shocking incident happened at approximately 12:27 p.m. near McFadden Road between Salinas and Castroville.
Reports say that the fatal crash happened between a sedan and a semi-truck, the collision claimed at least one life.
Authorities closed Highway 183 in both directions while they investigated the cause of the collision. Southbound traffic is being detoured to Cooper Road, and northbound traffic is being rerouted to McFadden Road. A Sigalert remains in effect, and it is unclear when the roadway will reopen.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by CHP.
