Deadly Bicycle Crash on Roland Avenue Kills Rider [San Antonio, TX]

San Antonio, TX (May 20, 2023) On Friday morning, a bicycle crash on Roland Avenue left a bicycle rider dead on the street.

According to San Antonio police, the fatal hit-and-run crash happened at about 2 a.m. in the 3500 block of Roland Avenue, near Pecan Valley Drive and Highway 87.

Reports say that a driver reported a man on the streets next to a destroyed bicycle. First responders arrived and attempted to save the man’s life, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say that a westbound vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and drifted into the opposite lane where it struck the bicyclist. Officials say the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the collision.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all responded to the report.
