1 Dead in Clovis Bicycle Crash on McKinley Avenue
CLOVIS, CA (August 15, 2019) – A man died in a bicycle crash on McKinley Avenue on August 13.
According to CHP Sgt. James Del Carlo, the victim rode west on the shoulder of McKinley Avenue just east of Temperance when he was hit.
The involved vehicle filled with five minors, a 2011 Toyota Sienna, traveled in the same direction and trailed the rider. For unidentified reasons, the vehicle driver went into the right shoulder and hit the man about 8:00 a.m.
The collision threw the bicyclist off his bike and died at the scene.
Authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors in the collision.
Authorities are still looking into the possibility of distracted driving and the use of a cellphone.
Del Carlo added that the five minors sustained only minor injuries.
