Singer Josh Turner Tour Bus with Road Crew Crashes, 1 Killed and 7 Others Injured
SHANDON, CA (September 18, 2019) – One member of country star Josh Turner’s road crew was killed and seven others were injured following a tour bus crash late Wednesday evening in Shandon.
The crash happened around 11:40 p.m. on Highway 46 near McMillan Canyon Road.
According to the Templeton CHP office, the bus had just departed from a show at Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles and was traveling eastbound when it veered off the roadway.
It careened through a barbed-wire fence and dense vegetation before plunging off a 50-foot embankment into a creekbed.
As a result, two people were ejected from the bus, including sound engineer David Turner, 64, of Oxford Mississippi, who sustained fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the bus driver and six other crew members to local hospitals. One of the crew members suffered major injuries.
Turner and his band were on separate buses and were not injured in the crash, according to Cal Fire.
The bus was removed from the creekbed and remains in the CHP’s evidence storage facility.
Turner postponed his remaining September tour dates following the crash, according to Universal Music Group Nashville. As of Friday morning, Turner had not publicly commented on the incident.
Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of David Turner. We also wish the injured parties a swift and steady recovery.
