David Pina of Stockton Killed in Highway 99 Collision [Modesto, CA]

Hit-and-Run Crash South of Kansas Avenue Kills Pedestrian

Modesto, CA (February 5, 2023) – On Thursday, David Pina, 46, of Stockton, lost his life in a Highway 99 collision.

The fatal hit-and-run crash happened around 11:41 p.m. south of Kansas Avenue.

The authorities received reports about a pedestrian who was seen running in the northbound lanes of the freeway.

When they arrived, officers located David Pina lying in the first and second lanes of the highway and declared him dead at the scene. 

Investigating officers said the vehicle that initially struck Pina did not stop or report this collision and it is unknown how many times was hit.

It is also unknown how many other vehicles may have hit the pedestrian as he lay in the traffic lanes.

 Moreover, officers said the vehicle that initially hit the victim was traveling in the northbound lanes. The authorities are seeking help identifying the vehicle’s year, make, model, and driver.
