Driver Arrested in San Benito County Fatal Crash
San Benito County, CA (November 19, 2024) – 39-year-old David Muigia of Fresno was killed in a DUI crash on New Idria Road Sunday night.
CHP said a 2024 Can-Am Maverick UTV driven by Gabriel Lopez, 27, was northbound on New Idria Road at an unknown speed when it lost control at a turn.
The UTV left the roadway and drove into a large drainage ditch.
Afterward, the vehicle went airborne and rotated and rested on its wheels.
The passenger, David Muigia, was killed in the crash.
CHP officers arrested Gabriel Lopez on suspicion of DUI and booked him into the San Benito County Jail.
