David Jones and 2 Others Killed in Alt US 90 Collision [Lavaca County, TX]

Lavaca County, TX (December 13, 2023) – Driver David Jones, passenger Carla Jones, both 62 years old from Hallettsville, and Marieli Sanchez, 25-year-old from Victoria, were killed in an Alt US 90 collision.

It was about 8:08 p.m. on December 10 when the collision between a 2022 White Honda Accord and a 2018 Ford Explorer unfolded on the Navidad River bridge.

The a 2022 White Honda Accord driven by Sanchez was eastbound on US 90A while a a 2018 Ford Explorer was westbound on the same road.

Investigators said Sanchez failed to drive in a single lane and crossed the center line hitting the vehicle driven by David Jones.

As a result, the 2022 White Honda Accord sustained front damage and front left damage to the 2018 Ford Explorer.

Moreover, the Ford Explorer spun back into the eastbound lane and hit the eastbound guardrail which resulted in the Honda’s left panel damage.

The Honda rested against the eastbound guardrail, facing west, and the Ford rested against the westbound guardrail, facing west.

Afterward, the Ford became fully engulfed.

Marieli Sanchez, David Jones, and Carla Jones were declared deceased at the scene. 

Officers are still investigating this collision.
