19-Year-Old Springville Teen Hospitalized after Accident near Morning Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 28, 2018) – A man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Highway 178, just after 9 PM on Saturday evening.
Bakersfield Police officials and emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident, just east of Morning Drive, to find a critically injured man lying on the ground and another man flagging down other drivers for help.
According to reports, 19-year-old David Crum Jr of Springville was walking along the side of the road with a friend, when hit by a car. The vehicle fled from the scene, leaving Crum injured on the road.
He sustained major head trauma and was taken to the Kern Medical Center for treatment. Crum is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with serious injuries. He had been hitchhiking from Bakersfield to Lake Isabella, according to his mother and sister. There is no update on his current medical condition.
