2 Men Fatally Injured in Car-Truck Collision at Garces Highway
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 24, 2018) – Two men were fatally injured in a semi-truck and car collision on Highway 43, early Thursday evening. The coroner’s office identified the two victims as 36-year-old David Ceja-Cabadas of Richgrove and 37-year-old Marcos Vargas Gutierrez of Wasco.
The fatal road accident occurred at around 5:04 PM, on State Route 43 at Garces Highway.
According to reports, Ceja-Cabadas was driving a vehicle in the area when he collided with a semi-truck. He was rushed to the Delano Regional Medical Center, but died in the emergency room several hours later, at around 8:50 PM. Vargas Gutierrez, a passenger in Ceja-Cabadas’ car, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Kern Medical Center Intensive Care Unit. He succumbed to his injuries at around 2:52 AM the following day.
Authorities continue to investigate the events leading up to the fatal collision. No further details about the accident have been immediately released to the public.
