David Birt Struck and Killed in Apple Valley Pedestrian Accident

 
Apple Valley, CA (September 28, 2020) – On Friday, 33-year-old David Birt of Apple Valley died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 18.
 
The fatal accident happened at about 9:19 PM on September 25 on State Highway 18 and Mandan Road.
 
Upon investigation, authorities determined a blue 2008 Chrysler Town and Country was moving east on State Highway 18. Mr. Birt was walking in the eastbound lanes of Highway 18 when a van struck him.
 
Paramedics and deputies with the Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene. However, authorities pronounced Birt dead on the scene at 9:32 pm.
 
Moreover, Sheriff’s officials said they evaluated the vehicle driver, a 50-year-old man. They determined was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the accident.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities closed the Eastbound lanes of State Highway 18, from Tao Road to Rimrock Road, for approximately 4 hours while deputies conducted the investigation.
 
The Apple Valley Police Department currently investigates the fatal accident. Also, the deputies are seeking additional witnesses.
