57-Year-Old David Alan Pate Dead in Hit-and-Run Crash on CR 4701 [Cherokee County, TX]

Cherokee County, TX (April 1, 2025) – David Alan Pate, 57, of Troup, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on CR 4701 late Saturday night.

The fatal motorcycle collision happened around 11:09 p.m. just west of FM 856 N near New Summerfield.

According to investigators, a GMC pickup was traveling west on the highway when it veered across the lanes and struck an eastbound motorcycle.

Sadly, the motorcyclist, David Alan Pate, was declared deceased at the scene.

DPS said the suspect driver abandoned the pickup at the crash scene and fled on foot.
