Dave Shapiro Dies in Horrific San Diego Plane Crash [Murphy Canyon, CA]

Murphy Canyon, CA (May 23, 2025) – Dave Shapiro, co-founder of Sound Talent Group, and two colleagues, were killed in the horrific San Diego plane crash.

According to authorities, the shocking incident happened around 3:45 a.m. in a Murphy Canyon neighborhood in San Diego.

Reports say that a Cessna 550 jet crashed in San Diego, killing three people and damaging ten homes. The crash occurred during heavy fog as the jet approached Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport.

Authorities confirmed six people were onboard. Among the dead were Shapiro, and two others. Shapiro owned the Alaska-registered jet and was reportedly piloting.

The impact sparked fires that destroyed homes and cars. Eight residents suffered injuries, six of whom required hospital care. Neighbors, including military families, helped evacuate others.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the jet hit power lines before crashing into a home, scattering debris across several streets. Over 100 firefighters responded. The plane had departed New Jersey and stopped in Kansas before heading to San Diego.

Road closures and evacuations followed, with a shelter set up at Miller Elementary School. The San Diego Humane Society rescued 16 dogs and puppies exposed to jet fuel.

Mayor Todd Gloria offered condolences and praised first responders. Sound Talent Group mourned the loss of its team members.
