Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Bicycle Accident near Southern Avenue

 
MESA, AZ (December 26, 2019) – The authorities confirmed that bicyclist Dave Dutra sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Meridian Road on Thursday.
 
According to the police, the incident happened near Southern Avenue. Reports showed that Dutra, a tourist, rode his bike when he was hit by a car. The car drove onto the shoulder to try and get around a slower-moving truck. Due to impact, Dutra and his 8-year-old dog Sugar riding in a basket behind him were launched into the air.
 
Doctors said Dutra suffered a concussion, torn spleen, fractured wrist, and his ear was almost completely detached.
 
The car left the scene after the incident. Witnesses described it a white car with its passenger side mirror ripped off.
 
Police did not release any other information at this time. However, an investigation continues to identify the hit-and-run vehicle that was last seen with front-end damage.
