El Paso, TX (January 3, 2025) On Wednesday morning, 27-year-old D’Aundre Kahlil Malik Laffoon was killed in a frightening crash on Loop 375.

According to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD), the crash occurred around 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day near Loop 375 and Vista Del Sol.

Reports say that Malik Laffoon was driving a Volkswagen Jetta at high speed on Loop 375 when it collided with the rear of a 2023 Lexus. The impact caused Malik Laffoon to lose control, and his vehicle veered off the roadway, rolled over, and ejected him from the car.

While Malik Laffoon was on the roadway, a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling north on Joe Battle struck him. Speed and pedestrians in the roadway were identified as contributing factors to the fatal accident.

This marks the first traffic death of 2025 in El Paso, mirroring the same statistic at this time in 2024.
