Driver Killed and Four Passengers Injured in Four-Car Collision near Cherry Avenue

LONG BEACH, CA (June 25, 2018) – A woman was killed Monday morning and four children were hospitalized, following a multi-vehicle crash on East Artesia Boulevard. 37-year-old Dashaynee Williams, of Long Beach, was later identified as the fatality in this incident.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision took place around 9:40 AM. A black 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 25-year-old Paramount man, was heading south on Cherry Avenue when it failed to stop at a red light at Artesia Boulevard.

Due to this, the Jeep struck an eastbound red 1998 Ford Expedition, driven by Williams.

The Ford continued to travel east and slammed into a light pole on the southeast corner of the intersection. Continuing to travel, the Jeep collided with a black 2008 GMC Yukon and a gray 2013 Kia Optima that were stopped for a red light in the northbound lanes of Cherry.

Williams, together with four young passengers, was found inside the vehicle with critical injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital, where Williams was later pronounced dead and the children were listed in good condition. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.

No arrest was made at this time, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the events leading up to the incident. Anyone with relevant information regarding this crash is encouraged to call Long Beach Police Detective David Lauro at (562) 570-7355.

We extend our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Dashaynee Williams, also known as Faith Positive Williams. She was the owner of a daycare facility called Pink Ribbon Daycare in Long Beach. May she rest in peace.
