Caltrans Worker Hurt in Jamestown Pedestrian Crash on Highway 108 near 5th Avenue
JAMESTOWN, CA (October 26, 2023) – Monday morning, 52-year-old Daniel Texeira sustained injuries in a startling pedestrian accident on Highway 108.
The incident happened at about 12:45 a.m. on Highway 108 near the intersection of 5th Avenue.
According to reports, Texeira of San Andreas wore an orange reflective vest and hard hat with a Halo light when he placed cones near the intersection.
However, CHP spokesperson Steve Machado reported, “29-year-old Devyn Gonzales was driving a 2022 Subaru Impreza westbound on State Route 49/108, making a left turn onto southbound 5th Avenue. Ms. Gonzales failed to see Mr. Texeira standing in the roadway and drove left of the solid double yellow lines, cutting the corner. Subsequently, the left front of Ms. Gonzales’ vehicle struck Mr. Texeira.”
Texeira sustained “moderate injuries” and was transported by an ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora. Then, officers arrested Gonzales for felony DUI and taken to Tuolumne County Jail.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
