Daniel Hernandez Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle on Palomar Street Near Skylark Drive

 
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (June 14, 2019) – A 19-year-old skateboarder was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver on Palomar Street near Skylark Drive Wednesday.
 
According to Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Jimenez, the deadly event befell before 11 p.m.
 
When deputies responded, they found the skateboarder with severe injuries. With haste, paramedics transported him to Valley Medical Center where, despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Daniel Hernandez died while skateboarding westbound near the bicycle lane of Palomar Street. A vehicle described as a white SUV with black rims that bore no license plate struck Hernandez as it traveled westbound, as well.
 
According to a witness, the older model SUV reportedly dragged Hernandez for some distance before his body came loose from the undercarriage. Its driver fled the scene, failing to render aid.
 
A sheriff’s investigation is underway to determine the driver’s whereabouts and the events leading to the crash. Anyone with pertinent information should call the Lake Elsinore station at (951) 245-3300.
