Daniel Hawkins, Jacob Ivascu and Drake Ruiz Killed in Intentional Hit-and-Run Crash on Temescal Canyon Road [TEMESCAL VALLEY, CA]

Anurag Chandra Arrested after Ramming Car in Temescal Valley Killing 3 Teens and Injuring 3 Others

 
TEMESCAL VALLEY, CA (January 19, 2020) – Three teenage boys were killed and three were hurt following a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening, in Temescal Valley.
 
The crash happened around 10:28 p.m., at Temescal Canyon Road and Trilogy Parkway.
 
According to reports, a southbound Toyota Prius collided with an Infiniti Q50. The impact caused the Prius to lose control, veer off the road and eventually collide into a tree.
 
The three deceased teens, all 16 years old, were Daniel Hawkins, Jacob Ivascu and Drake Ruiz.
 
Furthermore, the three injured victims were later identified as Sergio Campusano, 18, Joshua Hawkins and Joshua Ivascu.
 
Campusano is believed to be the driver of the Prius, and was described as best friends with Ruiz. All six teenagers were also members of a church’s youth group.
 
Ruiz attended New Beginnings Community Church in Norco, according to a GoFundMe campaign set up to raise money for his funeral.
 
The Infiniti reportedly fled the scene following the crash. A witness then followed the vehicle to a nearby home and reported it to authorities.
 
The suspect was later identified as 42-year-old Anurag Chandra of Corona. He was also arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on three counts of murder.
 
Moreover, Ruiz’ mother, Debbie Ruiz, said the boys were celebrating one of their birthdays. They played a prank in which they rang a doorbell and drove away at a home they believed was that of another teen. However, it turned out to be Chandra.
 
Chandra chased them and eventually rammed into their car, leading to the deadly crash.
 
Ruiz also played football at Centennial High School in Corona. He will be deeply missed by members of the community.
