27-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle Entering Parking Garage near Hub Hillcrest Market
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 10, 2018) – A man was killed early Friday morning, after he was struck by a vehicle entering a parking garage in the Hillcrest area.
According to San Diego Police Department officials, the incident happened shortly after 4:15 AM at an underground parking facility in the 1200 block of Cleveland Avenue. A 2017 Mercedes Benz sedan, driven by a 54-year-old woman, was about to enter the parking garage when it ran over a man sleeping near the entry gate.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Daniel Arreola, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the sedan driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The woman driving the sedan claimed that she did not see the man as she drove into the garage. However, the investigation is ongoing to clarify the claim and to determine possible contributing factors. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
