DUI Driver Involved in Major Collision near Highway 166

SANTA MARÍA, CA (November 10, 2019) Cynthia Hawkins, 57, of Pismo Beach, sustained major injuries in a DUI crash on Highway 101 on a late Sunday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened near the off-ramp of Highway 166 at approximately 11:46 PM.

Based on a report, 18-year-old Justin Koslosky of Solvang drove a white Ford Focus at a high speed when it slammed into the rear of a black Nissan Sentra.

The Nissan crashed into the center median wall before coming to a stop on the northbound lanes. After that, the Ford veered down an embankment, crossed the 166 on-ramp to 101, and hit another dirt embankment before it overturned.

Koslosky and Hawkins were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Officials transferred Hawkins to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, while police arrested Koslosky on suspicion of DUI.

Driving under the influence of liquor and other prohibited substances is extremely dangerous. In addition, it can lead to road accidents resulting in injuries, damages, and deaths.
