SAN JOSE, CA (July 8, 2019) — Authorities arrested a man involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist on Friday, July 5.
 
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Robert Lavin, 62, of San Jose.
 
According to the San Jose Police Department, officers arrested 35-year-old Anthony Trusso, of San Jose. As a result, police arrested him on suspicion of hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
 
On Friday at 12:47 p.m., officers rushed to the accident involving a vehicle and a bicyclist on Curtner Avenue near Briarwood Drive. After that, responding officers found the bicyclist, identified as Lavin, in the roadway. In addition, police identified the driver involved as Trusso. However, Trusso ran from the scene in a white Ford before the authorities arrived.
 
Emergency responders transported Lavin to the hospital. However, he died a short time later, police stated.
 
Officers were able to identify Trusso as the suspect. As a result, they located him and the vehicle at his residence in San Jose. After that, police booked him into Santa Clara County jail on vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run charges.
 
Lavin’s death marks the city’s 24th traffic fatality of the year. However, no other information regarding the accident at this time. As a result, an investigation continues.
