DUI Driver Detained after Victorville Multi-Vehicle Crash on 15 Freeway

 
VICTORVILLE, CA (May 19, 2020) – Early Sunday morning, police arrested Curtis Hubbard after a multi-vehicle crash on the 15 Freeway.
 
According to reports, the crash occurred on May 17 at around 12:13 a.m. on the southbound 15 Freeway and Bear Valley Road in Victorville.
 
A witness revealed that a speeding sedan lost control and crashed into the center divider, causing the collision.
 
When a black Jeep driver noticed the initial crash, he tried to swerve and avoid the collision. However, he steered into the path of an 18-wheel tractor-trailer.
 
Unfortunately, the tractor-trailer driver couldn’t stop in time.
 
As a result, both of the vehicles collided through a chain-linked fence before stopping on Amargosa Road, along the 15 Freeway.

Crash Aftermath and Curtis’s Arrest

 
The witness also added that the authorities arrested the speeding vehicle’s driver for driving under the influence. Meanwhile, the other drivers suffered minor injuries.
 
The bookings log confirmed that police detained 62-year-old Curtis Eugene Hubbard of North Las Vegas for DUI.
 
However, he is no longer in custody.
 
The multi-vehicle crash led authorities to shut down Amargosa Road in both directions for a short period to let the semi and the roadway to be cleared.
 
At this time, the Victorville CHP is still investigating the cause of the accident. They are also urging anyone with relevant information regarding the crash to contact 760-241-1186.
