Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Thornton Avenue Left Two Drivers Majorly Injured
Fremont, CA (April 10, 2021) – A two-vehicle crash on Thornton Avenue and Intestate 880 killed a passenger early Friday morning.
The incident happened on April 9 at the intersection of Thornton Avenue and Interstate 880 at about 2:32 a.m.
According to the preliminary investigation, one of the vehicles was traveling northbound on Interstate 880 off-ramp. The other one was traveling westbound on Thornton Avenue.
A witness told the investigators that the vehicle traveling I-880 had a green light to enter the intersection. When both vehicles advanced toward the intersection, the westbound vehicle collided with the northbound vehicle.
Emergency personnel transported both drivers and the passenger of one of the vehicles to the hospital. However, the passenger reportedly succumbed to their injuries. Officials have not released the identification of the now-deceased victim.
Meanwhile, both drivers suffered major injuries. Furthermore, both of their vehicles sustained major damages.

Investigators believed that alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.
