10 People Hospitalized After Crash on Paisano East in El Paso

El Paso, TX (November 9, 2023) – Early Thursday morning, 10 people sustained injuries in a crash on Paisano East and San Antonio Avenue.

The incident happened after a high-speed chase on November 9 at 1 a.m.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper saw a Kia passenger car traveling on Paisano Drive with several people hiding in the rear seat area.

The Trooper called for assistance before attempting to stop the vehicle suspected of human smuggling.

The driver of the Kia stopped at a red light at State Loop 375 and Spur 1966. The driver of the Kia noticed other Trooper units approaching, rammed a DPS unit, and began to flee.

The driver of the Kia continued eastbound on Paisano Drive at speeds over 100 miles per hour and eventually collided with a Jeep at the intersection of Paisano Drive and San Antonio Drive.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency personnel found nine people trapped in the Kia. All were extricated from the vehicle, given medical treatment, and taken to various hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The passengers of the Kia were all identified as undocumented non-citizens.
