Police Investigate Semi-Trailer Crash on Highway 23 in Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks, CA (May 14, 2024) – On Tuesday afternoon, police investigated a crash on Highway 23.

California Highway Patrol officials reported a crash involving a semitrailer around 3:45 p.m. near Olsen Road. 

The semi blocked the entire lane of the off-ramp, according to the agency’s incident log.

Capt. James Sullivan of the Ventura County Sheriff stated that the accident occurred on East Olsen Road off of the exit ramp, placing the investigation under the sheriff’s jurisdiction.

Officials later reported that the crash, which involved the big rig and a pickup truck, resulted in only “very minor” injuries, with no one transported to a hospital.

Traffic on northbound Highway 23 jammed from around the juncture with Highway 101 almost to Tierra Rejada Road for nearly two hours.

Officials stated that they had cleared the scene and reopened the roadways before 6 p.m.
