Deputy Critical after Crash on Esplanade Avenue in San Jacinto

San Jacinto, CA (May 12, 2023) – Early Friday morning, a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy sustained critical injuries in a crash on Esplanade Avenue.

The crash on Esplanade Avenue in San Jacinto happened around 2:15 a.m. on May 12.

Riverside County Sheriffs said the deputy, assigned to the sheriff’s Hemet station, was responding to a call for service at the time of the collision

After colliding with a light pole, the deputy’s patrol car’s back end was smashed, and the front end of the civilian vehicle was also damaged.

EMS transported the deputy and the other driver to a hospital.

Another deputy sheriff who was on the scene was also injured while trying to extricate the injured man from the vehicle

CHP continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
