Pedestrian Dead after Crash on East Mill Plain Boulevard in Vancouver

Vancouver, WA (November 14, 2023) – On Monday morning, a pedestrian wearing dark clothing, yet in a marked crosswalk, died in a crash on East Mill Plain Boulevard and V Street.

The crash occurred around 6 a.m., before dawn. Vancouver police conducted an investigation and reported that the pedestrian, crossing Mill Plain from the south within a crosswalk, was struck by a westbound vehicle. 

The driver, upon spotting the pedestrian, was unable to stop in time.

Further investigation revealed that the pedestrian, whose name was not released, had not activated the overhead crosswalk lights before entering the crosswalk, as stated in a news release.

The driver, whose name was also withheld, was not speeding, impaired, or distracted, according to police.

The police traffic unit is actively continuing the investigation.
