Catastrophic Crash on Dumbarton Bridge Results in Injuries [Fremont, CA]

Fremont, CA (September 29, 2023) On Thursday morning, 2 drivers suffered major injuries after a catastrophic crash on Dumbarton Bridge.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic incident happened on eastbound CA-84 east of the Dumbarton Bridge at about 5:39 a.m.

Reports say that a Ford pickup truck crashed into a concrete divider and overturned ending up on its roof. The driver sustained major injuries due to the crash.

Meanwhile, another vehicle struck the overturned pickup. Officials say that the driver of the vehicle attempted to avoid the collision, however, the driver lost control, hitting the truck.

Authorities say that the driver of the 2nd vehicle suffered minor injuries, while the other driver’s condition is currently unknown.

Officials say that the incident caused severe traffic jams on all eastbound lanes of the Dumbarton Bridge. The lanes reopened after almost 3 hours.

CHP is investigating the traffic crash and have not released additional information at this time.
