Woman Sustains Injury in Laguna Beach Fatal Collision
Laguna Beach, CA (August 12, 2022) – On Thursday, a 60-year-old Costa Mesa man died and his date, a 60-year-old woman sustained injuries, in a hit-and-run collision on South Coast Highway.
It was about 9:38 p.m. when the deadly collision occurred at Pearl Street.
Investigating officers say the couple just celebrated their anniversary at Ristorante Rumari when they crossed the highway in a lighted crosswalk.
Suddenly, a southbound light-colored sedan struck them as it traveled on the highway.
When the authorities arrived at the scene, they located the man with life-threatening injuries while the woman sustained moderate injuries.
Immediately, the paramedics rushed both the man and woman to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where the man succumbed to his injuries. The woman was evaluated and was later discharged. The authorities did not disclose their names.
Moreover, the involved driver fled the scene. Officers say the involved car likely has front-end damage.
